In high school, keep up on science courses such as math and biology. Most biotechnology business developers begin with a science education and later take business courses or learn on the job.

Biotechnology integrates advanced science studies such as biology, genetics, molecular biology, biophysics, biochemistry, chemical engineering and computer science.

Because this is such a demanding career, biotechnology business developer Ben Sutton advises students to consider their choice carefully. "High school students should stop and figure out what they're passionate about. If you don't have a passion for this work, you will never enjoy it."

This leaves the choice of the sciences to study quite open.
