Additional Information

There is no set training program for cruise directors.

Any experience you can get working with people -- especially in positions like tour guide, camp counselor and activities director -- is an asset. If you can get some experience organizing group activities, such as games, dances or bingo, that will likely give you an edge.

A good way to make your resume stand out is to have some college or university training. Courses in hospitality management or recreation might be a good choice.

And it wouldn't hurt to become fluent in another language. Cruise lines are catering to more international passengers, so being able to speak other languages is a definite asset.
